Party time

It was packing up time today and time to head home via cousin H’s birthday party.

First of all there was time for some drumming.

And dishes needed washed so they could be packed away.

At cousin H’s house there were plenty tapirs (her favourite animal).

Plus a fabulous cake, well done Mummy J.

Lots to eat and drink.

20170806_135605
And the girls played and played.

We hardly saw Beanster as she was away playing dens and making pretend ice cream in the shop she set up with some other children. Moo enjoyed being their customer although she did need it explained to her that she wasn’t getting real ice cream!

Back at home the girls made their own birthday party for Beanster’s doll Isobel. She even made her own gift tag for the presents, but did manage to write her own name backwards on it. Isobel was very clever though and worked out who the present was from.

A bath before bed was much needed as the weekend meant the girls were clarty! They are now in bed and sleeping in preparation for another fun filled day.

Day 2 St Andrews

Beanster had me up at 6.50 this morning and before anyone else awoke she did some colouring…

20170804_081111
…and we played a game of farmer lotto….

20170804_081745
….and she played with her story cubes.

When Moo awoke she helped to make her own breakfast.

20170804_092508
Beanster let Lyall do her hair then she settled down for her breakfast.

20170804_093220
Before we headed out for the day we used some charcoal that last night’s fire had made to do some drawings.

20170804_095831
We were off to St Andrews for a walk along the beach and a trip to the butterfly house in the Botanic Garden.

We did the obligatory selfie before our stroll.

20170804_115634
Then we paddled in the water.
20170804_115740
20170804_120415
20170804_120901
We drew in the sand, looked at dead crabs and investigated the flowering plants that were growing in the sand.

We even found some interesting caterpillars.

Beanster managed to convince Lyall to give her a lift back to the car so we could head off to our next destination.

The Botanic gardens at St Andrews is free the first Friday of the month which by happy coincidence was today. You pay a small fee to go into the special summer exhibition, the butterfly house but it was worth it to see the huge variety of butterflies flying around.

We didn’t spend too long in the rest of the garden as  the heavens opened and the rain was torrential, but it will definitely be a place to come back to soon. We decided to hang out in the education house and glasshouses until the rain slowed down and we could head back to the tent.

Before leaving St Andrews though we just had to have some ice cream in the rain (typical Scottish summer delight).

Back at the tent, Mama did a good job of entertaining the girls whilst I braved the rain and  cooked our tea outside. We then needed to eat our tea inside the tent. A slightly damp and soggy affair.

20170804_193026
After tea Moo played with the travel connect 4, building a castle with the bits and Mama taught Beanster how to play Uno.

20170804_200903
I then played shops with the girls. They used everything inside the tent which they sold at their pillow counters and imaginary till.

20170804_212053
Beanster then built a model of our home town before we headed to bed.

Today the rain taught the girls how to be resilient, adaptable and creative. I think they did well. Don’t you?

Camping with friends

We started our morning with a game of monster dominoes. Moo was excellent at this game winning both games.

20170803_090029
Granny and Grandpa then took the girls for a couple of hours so I could do the final shopping and packing for our camping trip with Stacey, Lyall and Kateherine to Pillars Of Hercules, Fife.

We arrived at the site and it was warm with some sunshine. This was a big improvement to the torrential rain we had earlier.

The girls helped to pitch the tent.

We enjoyed our first tea, veggie chilli, made by Stacey. Yum!

20170803_175201
We were visited by wildlife.

20170803_161336
And investigated the tunnels left by others. Here we are looking at mole tunnels.

We had a run about and looked at all the flowering plants around the site.

Our site has solar panels on it. Good for the girls to see up close.

My day out with Lyall &Katherine

Guest post by Beanster! Dictated by Beanster & typed by Mama.
I went on a train to Edinburgh with Lyall & Katherine.

received_1428534770569054
When we were there we went for sushi. I had salmon sushi and noodles.

received_1428534980569033
Then we went to look at some art at the art gallery.

2017-07-28_07-27-58
Next to the art gallery we saw some huge bubbles. A man with bubble sticks was making them.

After the bubbles we went for ice cream and then we sat down and ate the ice cream.

And then I rolled down the hill and runned down the hill.

received_884183138400559

Then we went to check if the big wheel was ok to go on but it was too expensive. Then we walked a very long way down a very big hill and I went to the charity shops. I bought a purse and a mouse and a dress and a necklace and an Elsa book. Then we walked up the very big hill again. Lyall and Katherine carried me up the hill.

I stopped for a break at a cafe to have a croissant.

received_884187598400113

When we got to the art gallery again I had a shot of the bubbles.

And then we went to the train station and then got on the train and then we did some colouring. That was it all that I did with Lyall and Katherine. It was a fablius day.

Day 1 camping, Comrie Croft

Today we took off to Comrie Croft Campsite, Perthshire, with home ed friends for a spot of weekend camping. Moo was a bit anxious and clingy whilst I packed the car, but eventually we headed off.

Beanster helped to hammer in tent pegs.

Nonsense happened on the ground sheet

and under the tent…..

And we all enjoyed eating dinner in the tent as it peed down outside.

Moo played with cars.

and made herself at home in the communal area.

Beanster made plenty new friends and they played with lego, at babies, had wheelbarrow races, fixed the water tap, ran around and decorated their faces.

20170714_205706

Beanster was excited to see bats on her trip to the loo before bed.
It is now almost 11pm and the girls have just headed to bed. Beanster has crashed out but Moo is still trying to party in her sleeping bag! Life is never dull with Beanster and Moo!

Woods

Today was a day spent in Beecraigs woods with friends we made at our antenatal group when I was pregnant with Beanster. We took a walk through the Highland Cow and Deer area then along beside the fishing loch, through a large woodland and onto the big playpark. Beecraigs is one of our favourite woodland jaunts and it gave Beanster and Moo plenty of opportunity to run, jump, balance, shriek like Amazon warriors, play, discuss nature, investigate and in Beanster’s case go barefoot through water, mud and woodchip. We finished our walk with lunch and ice cream at the cafe and the kids had more fun playing in the wee park, pretending to be thieves and police and jumping off the various walls. A great day had by all.

Photos today are a bit blurry due to the constant movement of the girls!
